OVNI 435 - Review in Yachting Monthly - April 2008

After the Southampton boatshow in September 2007, Yachting Monthly undertook a review of the Ovni 435 which has been published in the April 2008 edition. The photographs were taken on a glorious day in Southampton water before the boat left on her review voyage to her home port in Guernsey, via Cherbourg.

We are pleased with the overall tone of the review but very disappointed that our contact details don't appear in the review - the phone number is incorrect, there's no email address or website! Please call us on 01702 584 821/881

Our comment on the 'heavy steering verdict' is that there are two things to check in such circumstances - was the rudder fully down? If not the 'heavy steering' effect would be felt. The other thing to look at is sail trim.

Speaking of sails another incorrect element of the article is her sail area which is 88m2 not 72m2 as published. This means that her sail area to displacement ratio is actually a much more respectable 18.86! She's no sluggard.

Finally, if you should be considering a 435 there are indeed two standard layouts but both have 2 heads and the charter version vworks very well - for charter!. However, Ovni afficionados will already know that there's no such thing as a standard boat - each boat is tweaked for her owners.
